Accupuncture

Dr & Health Acupuncture Clinic

637 Fulham Rd, Fulham, London SW6 5UQ, UK – 020 7371 7773

I suffer with heavy hay fever and various allergies. For years I am using different antihistamine tablets and sprays which never really helped. Blocked and runny nose, lost sense of taste and smell and difficulties breathing resulting in inconvenience through out all day and bad nights sleep. After a long search for acupuncture my friend recommended Dr. Fan to me and after initial talk I booked 10 acupuncture sessions. First time in years symptoms has decreased or disappeared. I started to sleep better and I could finally smell and taste, my everyday life has improved. I am recommending Dr. Fan to anyone who suffers as much as I did for years and years. Thank you Dr. Fan

Amazing Acupuncturists!! They know exactly what they are doing. Dr Bu knew straight up what was wrong and knew how to treat me. I felt 100% better after my first session.. I cannot recommend this place enough and Dr Bu and Dr Fan are now treating my whole family! Also great value for money.. 45min-1hour acupuncture session is around £40 and includes cupping and Chinese massage. I feel so relaxed after. Highly recommend x

Shu Jun Healthcare

4 Marylands Rd, London W9 2DZ, UK – 020 7286 1442

I've been coming to Shu Jun Healthcare team for over 4 years, it started as a Groupon experiment as I was fed up with useless and expensive physio appointments and I haven't looked back since. They have managed to help me with my back issues so competently that I barely remember the agony I used to be in sitting at my desk. Sport injuries are also something they helped me and my husband with and most recently I was due to be induced as my pregnancy was overdue but before my induction was due to take place I consulted Shu Jun and they prescribed a course of moxybustion and acupuncture. After 3 treatments my contractions started and no induction was necessary. I am hugely grateful and delighted with the results I've received from all my treatments! I highly recommend both the massage for medicinal, therapeutic and relaxing purposes as well as the acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping depending on different ailments. Extremely professional and knowledgeable experienced staff!

I've received treatments from this excellent clinic ever since it opened, it is highly recommended. the staff are warm, helpful and experienced

Fulham Wellness Chiropractic Clinic

7 Heathmans Road, Parsons Green, Fulham, London SW6 4TJ, UK – 020 7731 8777

Dr. Powar's treatment helped me heal a very bad back injury. I had a pinched nerve and couldn't move my head and was in excruciating pain. She took me in as an emergency appointment over the weekend (same day that I called after desperately trying to find anyone open on the weekend) and treated me for several weeks thereafter. I am feeling much better now. She also gave me tips on what to do in day to day life to prevent it from happening again. Thanks Dr. Powar!

PART 1 This is gonna be a long review, but it's really worth reading if you suffer from back problem/functional scoliosis/ bad immune system/anxiety etc. I've been suffering from a bad back since an early age. My school nurse saw that something wasn't right at the age of 11. She thought I had different lengths on my legs, so she sent me to another school doctor. He said that my legs were the same length but that my back was a little bit "crooked" but it was nothing to worry about. Through my teenage years I grew very fast and it made my back worse. But the school nurse kept saying it was still okay that I should not worry. So I didn't. I could see that my posture wasn't straight. My right lower back muscle was so much bigger, and pointing out a couple centimeters compering to my left side. I could also feel how my spine was curving more like into a mild S shape in the middle section and lower part of my back. I thought that I had to live with it for the rest of my life. It didn't look that dramatic and bad to other people, but if I told them, they could see I wasn't straight and some of them were shocked when they felt my crooked spine with their hand etc. When I reached my early 20s I started to really suffer. My neck was tensed all the time, I didn't get enough quality sleep, I got into a depression and suffered from a lot of anxiety. I constantly craved massage to temporarily relax my muscles. Otherwise I would cry myself to sleep very often because of the pain. I also got really sick every other month because of my bad immune system. I had a hard time standing up for a longer period, it made my back hurt. Since my neck was tensed all the time I also suffered from heavy headaches and ringing in my ears. My Jaw also locked from time to time because of the tension in my muscles. I honestly thought I had to live with that for the rest of my life. Then I saw the term "scoliosis" and I saw someone else with a similar spine, and she said it got better when she started to work out. So I tried to work out, and I was unexperienced when it came to different muscle workouts, so I probably just made my back worse, and even more tensed because of how my back was shaped from the beginning. I had never heard the term scoliosis before, and now I could diagnose my self with at least something. A few years went by, and I moved to London. (I'm originally from Sweden) I decided to get my first professional massage. She told me my back was really tensed and bad, but that my spine was actually treatable, and that I have to see someone about it. I didn't really believe it at first. It sounded to good to be true. I kept having a few more regular massages, and every single masseuse told me my back was so tensed and bad. So I brought this up to my boyfriend and told him about my problem and scoliosis, and he knew for sure that I was in constant pain. He found Narinder. My life saver! I started an intense treatment there in the middle of september last year. I had to treat all 3 areas of my back. She told me that so many nerves of mine were squeezed, no wonder I was in constant pain. After just a few treatments my pain was almost gone, and I could both feel and see a huge different on my body. My boyfriend also reacted and we both were blown away to be honest. It felt like a miracle for me, it still does! Ofc I had to keep going there regularly because my spine/muscles tried to push back since it's been that way for almost 10-15 years. So the first step was to try to make my spine to get used to my "new back" with more relaxed muscles. I was lucky that I had functional scoliosis. That means that when I'm laying down my spine becomes relatively straight. Narinder learned me this. (Continue to part 2)

The Spinal Answer Chiropractor in Fulham

21 Filmer Rd, Fulham, London SW6 7BU, UK – 020 7736 2550

Chiropractic has been life-changing and a lifesaver. Two years of severe, chronic pain improved from the very first visit, after many other types of therapy proved to be less successful, and a friend suggested seeing a chiropractor. Emily is passionate about what she does and the results speak for itself. Highly recommend chiropractic and the clinic!

The Spinal Answer in Fulham are one of London’s best Chiropractor Clinics in my view. Lovely people and specialist knowledge

Malgosia has helped me and my little one in the last year and I am very grateful to have met her. She has helped me deal with emotional stresses and bring me back to feeling more like myself. My toddler has eating/food issues and these are improving all the time. Could not recommend such a lovely lady enough.

Homeopathy and its holistic approach has done wonders for me. Not only have I become a better person, but my health has improved drastically! I couldn't thank Malgosia enough.

Hautman Homeopathy

82 York Street, London, Marylebone W1H 1QP, UK – 07766 057823

I had aroma touch therapy with Jenny and It was such an uplifting experience. Highly recommended!

Jenny has helped my 85 year old mother immeasurably with repeated urinary tract infections and bladder inflammation. After trying many different ways to manage this problem, I took mum to Jenny who prescribed a remedy that had a powerful effect. Over a period of a few months, each time Jenny advised mum to take the remedy there was a positive change in her symptoms and the most recent time has resulted in her becoming symptom free. Mum has been in a cycle of either infection or inflammation for 5 years without respite so being completely symptom-free is something of a RESULT! Jenny also prescribed a particular aromatherapy oil blend for when mum gets distressed (she is of an age when her friends are regularly getting sick and dying which she finds very upsetting). I wasn't sure whether mum would use it but she has and told me that she finds it very comforting to put some on her forehead at night and that it helps her to sleep better. So this has been hugely useful too. If you go to see Jenny you will meet someone who is kind, good humoured and very knowledgeable. She was very considerate of my mum's age and vulnerability for which I was grateful. I have no hesitation in recommending her.

Nelsons Pharmacy

87 Duke St, Mayfair, London W1K 5PQ, UK – 020 7629 3118

I highly recommend Andrew Ward RSHom as an expert classical homeopath. I have learned from him over the last 10 years as a teacher and supervisor of my more difficult cases here in Vancouver, Canada. I regard him as a highly trained professional. His level of experience and expertise in classical homeopathy is hard to match!

Nelsons is an icon in London. Around for hundreds of years, it will have whatever you need in homeopathic formulations. If you are new to homeopathy, you may be surprised as to how efficient it is for a majority of ills. There is a clinic there that you can go to as well and the odds are likely that they can assist you when traditional western medicine has not provided an answer. They can also formulate a prescription tailored just for you. Give them a try...there is no downside in doing so! The worst you could do is to get well-

Specsavers Opticians Edgware Road - Marble Arch

173 Edgware Rd, London W2 2HR, UK – 020 7706 0404

Well the much awaited revamp has happened. It hasn't obviously increased stock capacity but the layout seems much improved. The displays are clearly priced from £25 upwards to £165, frame plus different types of lenses too and the lighting above the racks is kinder on the eye and the complexion ! There's a tablet desk near the entrance so you can check out the website to order in a colour choice or use the ' how would l look in these frames' facility. For those of us who are very myopic this is invaluable. You no longer have to ask strangers in store what they think or press yourself up to the mirror and squint at your reflection. Staff won't let you select an unsuitable frame for your prescription or an unflattering one. The aftercare is brilliant too. No matter what kind of clutzy things you subject your new glasses to, they're ready willing and able to put them to rights, which makes the initial heavy financial outlay on new specs feel less painful. Never be frightened either to delay your choice by writing down style reference numbers you like, then checking them on line later to help you decide. Don't buy under pressure. Ask about donating your old frames to a charity too.The cleaning and adjustment machine is now just beside the till so getting a quick spruce really easy.

Brilliant customer service, good waiting time, fair prices, and accurate results, as well as a variety of glasses to choose from and clear communication between them and the customer

Specsavers Opticians London - Fulham

387 North End Rd, Fulham, London SW6 1NP, UK – 020 7471 0390

We should come here once a year to have an eye test. I would say that the eye test here is very good indeed. Not only checking the eyesight, but also testing orther visual impaired. Glasses here are cheap. Currently most of them are buy one get one for free.

The staff are really good and helpful. I've been looked after since I had my glasses the first time. Tarik most specially was really nice and friendly. I had a new pair of glasses that comes with a prescription sunglasses under their buy one take one deal and I love them!.

Vision Express Opticians

37 King's Rd, Chelsea, London SW3 4NB, UK – 020 7259 9284

Regretfully I did not learn each persons name on my visits to the store. I have been served by 3 individuals. Each of whom has given outstanding customer service, has been knowledgeable and attentive. So much so I have been compelled to write this. Thanks guys! Ill be back :).

I walked in on the off chance that this opticians could fit me in as i was going off on a business trip and had misplaced my computer glasses, within minutes the young man who i presumed to be the manager got me an appointment even though the store was busy. The eye examination was extremely thorough and the optician showed me a picture of my retina and i was very impressed with the high tech equipment they used. She recommended eye drops which have clearly made a difference within a week! I couldn’t recommend this store highly enough to anyone who would like an efficient and honest service. By far the best opticians in chelsea!

Osteopaths

Fulham Osteopaths

769 Fulham Rd, Fulham, London SW6 5HA, UK – 020 7384 1851

I have had chronic hip pain for 10 years which has limited my ability exercise and affected my gait. Despite having seen many therapists over the years I was unable to resolve this issue. After the third consultation with Elyse something has shifted. The pain is almost gone and my range of movement has greatly improved. After each session I have felt deeply relaxed and pain free. I am so impressed with the results of her work with me. Her ability to tune into my body shows great awareness and sensitivity. I cannot recommend her highly enough as an osteopath. Last but not least, Elyse is warm and reassuring with a calm, healing presence. Susan J

Fulham Osteopaths is the solution ! I booked an appointment after having been recommended by a dear friend. Immediately I felt at home and had a warm welcome. I’ve been treated by Melinda, who was the warmest, sweetest and most caring osteopath I have ever met. She didn’t see the individual problem, but instead looked at the whole picture and so all of my body and through some gentle treatment and explanation as she went along, she simply fixed me! I remember limping into the practice that morning and walking out straight upright and pain free. I was impressed with the whole approach and immediate results and also that they didn’t try to sell me another booking at all, instead Melinda just gave me a warm hug and wished me to stay well. Will definitely and wholeheartedly recommend Fulham Osteopaths to anyone who is looking for treatment by safe, competent and honest hands.

Osteopathic Association Clinic

Been here for two lower back incidents a few years apart. Both times the treatment was very good. But main value is in the accuracy of the diagnosis and advice on managing the problem yourself so that you don't have to go and see them!

Golborne Osteopaths

Portobello Clinic, 12 Raddington Rd, London W10 5TG, UK – 020 8961 3612

Review for Alison Durant: When I met Alison I had been wheelchair bound for almost nine months due to various medical problems including sciatica and and a bladder and muscular condition. I lived everyday in the most severe pain and my life had all but dissolved. Alison made me feel very at ease and was fully invested in insuring I was as comfortable as possible during examinations and physiology. She explained and showed me how to do a wide range of stretches and exercises that I could do myself. She is a friendly, courteous and understanding person that has went above and beyond to help me get my life back. I am now walking again almost completely pain free and the difference this has made to my everyday life has been invaluable. I would highly recommend her. She is amazing.

I have the highest opinion of Alison, who has seen me through several types of injury, in one form or another. She has always been responsive and professional, giving full explanations of hands-on treatment and encouraging me to follow-up with strengthening and mobility exercises. I do not hesitate to recommend her.

Physiotherapy in W8

Central Health Physiotherapy @Chelsea

Royal Hospital Chelsea Royal Hospital Rd, Chelsea, London SW3 4SR, UK – 020 7404 6343

A miracle On my first visit I hadn't put a bare foot on the floor for 2 months due to a severely broken ankle. Chris at Central Health Chelsea took a great deal of time to assess the injury and work out a personal recovery plan for me. He encouraged me to take a step or two and gave me specific exercises. On my second visit 10 days later thanks to his encouragement and skill I was able to walk without the boot, and the 2 crutches. There's still a way to go but I did not expect such rapid and sustained progress. Thank you Chris.

My wife had a pretty horrendous and complicated skiing injury which has resulted in her requiring two surgeries and intense physio. She picked central health Chelsea as there is a hydrotherapy pool. Jane is an amazingly dedicated, knowledgeable and friendly physio. She has helped my wife with the physio therapy but also looks out for how she is doing emotionally to ensure that she remains motivated and determined to help hasten her recovery. My wife is very happy with the services and the progress she has made. We (and the surgeons!) never expected the recovery she has made. Keep up the good work!

Six Physio Parsons Green

699 Fulham Rd, Fulham, London SW6 5UJ, UK – 020 7371 7666

The difference between a good physio and a great physio simply cannot be underscored enough. Six seem to only hire great physios. Ask for Francesca - it will change your recovery and when you're an athlete the time it takes to get back on your feet makes an enormous difference.

Booked in, at quite short notice, for a deep tissue massage with Rebecca. All the way through the massage, she was great - explaining what she was doing, and how it would be beneficial, as well as taking care to fully work into the (incredibly tight!) muscles on my back. Left, feeling as if I was walking with much more ease, and with recommendations for exercises and stretching to do to continue the work that she'd started. Definitely recommend!

Physiotherapy London (Marble Arch & Canary Wharf)

21 Bryanston St, Paddington, London W1H 7AB, UK – 020 7493 7570

I was recommended Physiotherapy London by my personal trainer who classes them as the best Physio in London. After my visit I can also concur with this opinion. The service was professional and Marinus my physio was extremely knowledgable. Not only giving me practical exercises to take away but also helping me to work through mental blocks that have previously slowed my rehabilitation. First class experience.

After one session with Physiotherapy London, I was further forward than I had been after a year’s treatment with the NHS. My physio was clear and utterly professional; firstly by listening and questioning to establish my medical history and symptoms then, by explaining the treatment plan and prognosis. I was referred to a specialist podiatrist immediately and was given a set of exercises tailored to address my injuries. I left feeling optimistic, well cared for and with my pain greatly reduced after massage and strapping to my foot. I would thoroughly recommend Physiotherapy London for both their ability to target and deal with my injury and, for their friendly and professional approach.

Psychiatrists serving W8

Dr Mike McPhillips

2 Lower Sloane St, Chelsea, London SW1W 8BJ, UK – 020 7245 1199

Mike is (or can be) incredibly honest in both his expression and approach. He’s outstandingly perceptive, and genuinly caring in his own way. The diagnosis from him was life changing. As a highly critical individual, I don’t think he has failed any of his descriptions on his website. To the one star reviewers: It’s funny how people forget doctors are humans too, and they don’t have the duty to say what you want to hear and give you your expected reactions. You don’t need to have a functioning brain to see Mike, but you need to at least have one🤷‍♀️.

Dr Mcphillips ,is a very experienced and understanding doctor, and has a kind aproach to individual issues, and l believe cares about people as individuals in his approach in a holistic manner, would not hesitate recommending .Michael W.Sheffield.Yorkshire.

Dr. Robert Cohen

14 Devonshire Pl, Marylebone, London W1G 6HX, UK – 07446 423074

I was referred to Dr Cohen by my GP having suffered depression for many years, a lot of that time unaware I had a problem and then later ignoring it until I reached crisis point. At our first meeting I found him to be very direct, empathetic, caring and insightful. He was able to articulate how I felt much better than I could and it was a relief to talk to someone who 'understood' me. In the time that I have been seeing him, his support has always been unwavering, especially when I was trying to go back to work and later when I received ill health retirement from my employer. Whilst not fully recovered I am a lot better than I was and generally the low's aren't as bad as they used to be and don't last as long. I know my progress has been hampered by various other health problems along the way and that I don't really have anyone else I can talk to about how I'm feeling. I know I still have a long way to go in my recovery but I know Dr Cohen will always be there to help me on my journey.

Centre For Counselling & Psychotherapy Education

Beauchamp Lodge, 2 Warwick Cres, London W2 6NE, UK – 020 7266 3006

CCPE is an organisational member of UKCP. They offer training programmes that are experiential in nature and loosely based on the Sufi teachings. There is an administrative office in the building for the Sufi Order and the director and owner, Nigel Hamilton, is the UK representative for Sufi Order International. The building, whilst quite scruffy and austere in nature, enjoys great sweeping views over the nearby canal. What you need to know if thinking about studying at this place is that the diploma course contains almost 60 students this year. That means you are unlikely to get to know all students very well, experiential weekend groups are large and it can be a struggle to get a seat for lectures. However, the plus side is that you can get to know potentially a lot of people (although most students are white and middle class, in common with other training institutes). It needs to be said that the overall student experience at CCPE could be improved upon. For example, any additional tutorials incur extra charges. There is no WIFI coverage that the students can access at the College and the library essentially amounts to a locked cupboard containing a few books and journals. The lecture room has an old PA system that is very unstable and unless you are in the front row you will struggle to hear softly spoken presenters. There are some poor lecturers (some just read from a handout) and rarely is there a joined up approach to the teaching programme (each lecturer or weekend facilitator rarely knows what is next on the timetable apart from their particular piece). Front office staff, in common with most other places offering similar courses, tend to be lowly paid and lacking in basic customer skills. That aside there is a lot going for this place. There are some very skilled facilitators working on the teaching programme here too. Also, the ethos of the place is not to stipulate one particular way to practicing as a therapist and there is no one real prescribed route to qualification. There is an emphasis on the integrative approach. Indeed, students are largely left to draw upon the aspects of the training that especially appeals to them individually rather than adhering to a 'one cap fits all' approach. That approach will work if you want to think for yourself and develop in your own way.

I attended CCPE as a student on the diploma course between 2011 and 2014. I endorse the professional courses on offer at the Centre, which are integrative including psycho-spiritual. Most of the experiential aspects of the training programmes are of a decent standard.

“It felt that my life was being lived under a thick wet blanket. Nothing gave me pleasure, nothing made me happy and I simply craved to be allowed to isolate myself from everything and everyone. I am not that person any longer, my life is joyful, bright and filled with hope and opportunity.”

I was recommended to Richard through a doctor friend because my anger was out of control. I felt it everywhere, at home, in the office with colleagues and even in shops or on public transport. Richard was able to help me find the roots of my anger and heal the wounds I had been pretending were not there. I have learnt how to use my anger constructively but most of it has dissipated and where there was anger there is now a sense of wisdom and simply being.”

Great for a quick massage. The therapist are very good!

I just wanted to drop you a note to compliment one of your amazing staff. Her name is Rashida and she saved my life yesterday. I came in not able to turn my head either way and in excruciating pain. Over the course of a week I have been to an osteopath medical doctor and prescribed drugs without any relief. After an hour massage I was much better and today I am 99%!!! She totally knows what she’s doing and has a very good bedside manner. Please tell her good job!! Thank you Scott
